2007 Kawasaki Versys 650 Update September 25, 2006
A reassuring feeling combined with that hard to define fluid response to your every action, that’s Versys. The dynamic and commanding upright seating position offers the perfect view for a flowing ride through dense city traffic or twisty country roads.
The 649cc parallel twin engine is tuned to respond at any rpm, especially down low. When they demand instant power, a Versys rider is never left short.
With the distinctive handling characteristics and the optimised feedback of the Versys, riders will find that they really can call the shots, nailing their chosen line with ease or attacking an apex with precision. And above all, the long-stroke suspension delivers the freedom for fun even on rough roads.

At the very heart of motorcycling lies the singular enjoyment of the ride not merely negotiating the conditions, but revelling in them. Like a surfer on a wave, you’ll make each ride your own.
The spirit of street surfing that’s the fluid spirit and response of the Kawasaki Versys.
Tuned for low-mid range torque
When tuning the 649 ccm Parallel Twin engine of the new Kawasaki Versys, the engineers’ first priority was to find throttle response that balanced a powerful feeling and a quick-revving character. To optimise performance for everyday riding, care was taken to maximise low-mid range torque.
- Intake and exhaust cams with short operating angles move the torque curve toward the lower end of the rpm range.
- To achieve smooth power and torque curves, the exhaust system makes use of a balance tube.
- Fuel injection settings for the Versys were selected primarily to deliver a strong powerful feeling when the throttle is opened.
- Performance and feel were optimised for the mid-range (3,000-6,000 rpm).
The above settings result in a performance that favours speeds most used in everyday riding: the range in and around 80-120 km/h (50 - 75 mph).
No official word yet whether we will see the Versys here in the USA anytime soon.

Features
Engine: Compact engine tuned for maximum low- and mid-range torque allows riders to open the throttle at any rpm.
Inverted Front Fork: Long-travel 41 mm front fork with stiff springs is the key to active control of the bike’s front-rear weight transfer.
Slim upright riding position: A slim, upright riding position with wide handlebars offers both a naturally relaxed posture and great controllability, and allows riders to experiment with a number of riding styles.
Wind and weather protection from the adjustable windscreen is excellent, making jaunts on the highway stress-free.
Wind Protection: Wind and weather protection from the adjustable windscreen is excellent, making jaunts on the highway stress-free.
Petal Brake Discs: Triple petal disc brakes look great and deliver plenty of stopping power. Models with front and rear ABS are also available in certain markets.
Sleek, flickable chassis: From long sweepers to tight twisties, the Versys’ combination of quick steering and dynamic stability lets riders handle corners with ease. The high level of feedback offered by the chassis and suspension settings clearly communicates the bike’s feedback to the rider.
