Australia Superbike: Stauffer completes clean sweep March 6, 2007

The most dominant figure on the Australian Superbike racing scene, Jamie Stauffer, has completed a clean sweep of the Australian Superbike support class at the World Superbike round held at Phillip Island .

Stauffer won both of the Superbike races on Saturday in fairly convincing fashion, and returned for the final race on Sunday where he stormed away from the rest of the field.

The Despite a few glitches resulting in the Yamaha rider managing just third overall in the Supersport category, Stauffer was not really challenged for top position at this event.

Riding his Suzuki to second, third and second placing’s in the three races, Shawn Giles took out second overall for Team Yoshimura Suzuki, while teammate Craig Coxhell finished in third.

Speaking about his weekend on the Superbikes, Stauffer admitted that Saturday’s racing was in extremely difficult conditions, and that he was pleased with his weekend results.

“The second Superbike race yesterday was really windy and it was pushing down the left hand side coming around the straight, and some of the corners were really hard to turn yesterday because the wind was really holding up,” he said.
“That is something you have really got to watch out for around here. But everyone has to ride in the same conditions whether it is windy, wet or dry, so you just have to do the best you can do and hope that that is good enough.

“The whole Yamaha team is going really well and we will keep working on the bikes to get them ready for the next round, but I am pretty with the whole meet really.”
