British Superbike BSB: Kawasaki’s Easton Shines on Superbike at Dreary Knockhill July 3, 2007

The ISILON MSS Discovery Kawasaki team’s Stuart Easton shone in the damp conditions of both Bennetts British Superbike races today at Knockhill with a brace of solid points finishes. The 23-year-old from Hawick scored 14th and 11th places aboard the ISILON MSS Discovery Kawasaki ZX-10R, vacated by injured team-mate Michael Rutter. In the MAXXIS British Supersport race the former champ had to pull in from fourth place with a shredded front Dunlop after the team gambled on wet tyres in changeable conditions. The team will now be working hard to improve the performance of both machines in time for the second Oulton Park round of the year on July 13th-15th, where Rutter is expected to return to fitness.

“I was pretty satisfied with the second Superbike race. We had an improved rear tyre from Dunlop and thanks to them we did much better. The first race was a points-scoring finish, so we did what we could, but the second was much more satisfying. I was battling with Hudson Kennaugh, Steve Plater and Cal Crutchlow in the races, so I was in good company. In the Supersport race it was a bit of a lottery really and a gamble with the tyres. We were in 4th when we had to pull in. Disappointing, really, as we wanted a podium at least.”

Jack Valentine, Race Team Manager

“It was a real lottery the Supersport race and sadly we lost. This was disappointing as it was this race that we really felt that we could get a good result, but these things happen and many other front-runners had the same problem. After the first Superbike race we had some race feedback, so in the second race we made some changes and softened the bike a little and used a different tyre, that helped us get the improved result. Overall though, we were very happy with Stuart’s efforts and now we want to move forward for the next race.”

Nick Morgan, Team Owner

“Stuart did so well in both Superbike races, he really did us proud. It was a shame that he had to pull out of the Supersport race, but wet tyres on a drying circuit meant that he couldn’t continue. Jack’s added a lot of momentum to the team and we want to maintain that up to Outlon Park. It’s exciting times for us now, as we have some new parts to try for both the Superbike and Supersport bikes, so we’re aiming for some good results from the next few races in both championships.”
