Mike Romine just got better as the day wore on using his quickest pass of the weekend to earn the Nitro Harley-Davidson victory Sunday at the sixth annual O’Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Romine beat Tommy Grimes in the final round of the Nitro Harley-Davidson exhibition series at the NHRA POWERade national event. It was the second of three exhibitions for the nitro-burning motorcycles this season as the AHDRA Screamin’ Eagle championship chase had the weekend off.

Screamin’ Eagle Rider Kicks Off the Weekend with Tampa Wedding Two-time defending NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle champion Andrew Hines married Tanya Phillips Friday night at Tampa’s First Baptist Church.
Hines and his bride a Tampa native were surrounded by friends and family as the couple took advantage of an off-weekend from the busy drag racing schedule.

Jay Turner used four solid quarter-mile passes Sunday to claim his first Top Fuel victory of the 2006 Screamin’ Eagle championship AHDRA season.
Turner rode his quickest pass at the end of the day, beating Joe Timmons in the final round of the Rucker Performance Lonestar Nationals Presented by Drag Specialties at the Texas Motorplex just south of Dallas.

When the two-bike Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines V-Rod team walked away from the first round of qualifying Friday at the O’Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals, predicting a final round appearance seemed nearly impossible.
After that first qualifying pass at Houston Raceway Park, two-time defending NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle champion Andrew Hines was in ninth place. Teammate GT Tonglet wasn’t even qualified.
The weekend, however, came around. The team rallied in qualifying and made the most out of the day that really counts Sunday.
