CBV Racing to develop Rally Kit for Aprilia RXV June 20, 2007
John Sample Automotive, the Australia Aprilia Importer and Australian Dakar racer Christophe Barriere-Varju (CBV Racing) today agreed to put the RXV 550 through torture testing.
Christophe will train on the RXV for his upcoming Dakar Rally and stress test the Italian beauty with the view to send feedback to Italy and develop a Rally Kit available to customers in 2008.
“The RXV in its standard form provides the basics for a very light and powerful Rally Bike, the Aprilia has a high-positioned air filter allowing for deep river crossing without filling up the engine with water. The frame design lends itself to a low centre of gravity for added fuel components” says Barriere-Varju. Christophe will receive the RXV mid July and start testing the bike in his Stockton dunes backyard.
“We’re pleased to support Christophe in this venture,” said JSA Off Road Aprilia Product Manager, Mark Barnett. ”The RXV is extremely capable straight out of the box and should be an ideal base for a Dakar bike, so we’re looking forward to seeing CBV Racing turn it into a full-blown desert racer,” he added.
