Centopassi ends at Bardonecchia, Flavio Manestrina wins July 25, 2006

At the end of four thrilling and demanding legs on the Western Alps, Centopassi, the motorcycling event dedicated to riders who love to put to themselves to the test on the hardest mountain roads ended on the 22nd July with the final arrival at Bardonecchia.

Flavio Manestrina, on a Ducati Multistrada 1000DS, came first on the overall results of the Competition Class with a total of 67 points obtained through the ability trials and time controls overcome during the four days of marathon, through the most spectacular passes between France and Italy.

A Ducati Multistrada 620 is the coveted prize which Manestrina used to return home in Toscolano Maderno (Brescia), accompanied by a large group of friends who celebrated and where by his side during the whole adventure.
In second place with 52 points, came Alessandro Severi on a BMW GS 1200R and in third place on the podium was Enrico Corbani, on a Ducati 996, with a total of 46 points.

The team results saw triumph the team Garda Bikers B with 119 points, followed by the team Cistauri with a score of 95 ponts and in third place by a breath the Team Umbria BMW Racing, with 94 points.

Centopassi 2006, was organized for the fourth time by Dream Engine from Bologna, this year the event hosted 150 passionate motorcyclists from many different nations: Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, England, Holland, Spain, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Greece and USA.

Departure was from Nice on the 19th July, where participants from both classes ­ Competition and Iron Biker ­ have touched in four legs the most symbolic passes of the Western Alps: Colle della Lombarda, Colle della Maddalena, Col de Vars, Col de l’Echelle, Colle delle Finestre, Col de Sampeyre, Colle dell’Agnello, Col de l’Izoard, Col de Mont-Genevre, Col du Lautaret , Col du Galibier, Col du Telegraphe, Col du Chaussy, Col de la Madeleine, Col du Meraillet, Col de l’Iseran, Col du Mont Cenis, Col de la Strenne, Alpe d’Huez, Col del la Croix de Fer, Col du Mollard.

The base camp for the Villaggio Centopassi, which hosted all leg arrivals, departures, entertainment, ability trials and gimcana was Bardonecchia, which once again underlines the motorcyclist “vocation” of its territory, be it for its unique geographical characteristics that render it so appealing to motorcyclists as well as for its vast and varied tourism infrastructures.

On the 21st July in the Centopassi villane the GARAGEDIABOLICO party took place, party, inspired on the cartoon strip drawn by Carlo Cianferoni, that with his “hardcorebikestory” exalts the “bitter-sweet romanticism” of so many motorcyclists. The party is open to the public and previews the presence of VIP guests: Italian talk show stars Diego Conte show girls Eva Collini and Svetoslava Lozanova. In charge of the music will be DJ Fabio Piane by MilanoBellaVita and drinks by Disaronno, Artic, RonVaradero and Corvo.

Centopassi 2006 was made possible thanks to the support for the second consecutive year of the main sponsor Z Zegna, the fragrance for men by Ermenegildo Zegna a perfume that speaks of style, sport and seduction, created for a man who is passionate about his liberty, about the open road, motorbikes, speed and travel. The event also relies on the support of the technical partner Ducati Motor, Iveco, Bardonecchia Common and Tucano Urbano.

The Dream Engine organization was supported by, the aegis of Federazione Motociclistica Italiana and the technical collaboration of the Curve&Tornanti team for the itinerary, dell’Auto Moto Club Viterbo for all time keepings and Renato Zocchi as the Race Director. As well as the support of the Highway Police of Bologna ­ who accompanied and supported the participants through out the whole route.

On the safety front the event was enriched by the precious collaboration with Doctor’s Costa Clinica Mobile, a highly professional medical support team that follows all the races of the World Motorcycling Championship and Superbike. Clinica Mobile was present at Centopassi with a fixed unit in Bardonecchia and two mobile units, which followed the race.
