Drag Racing: Kawasaki ZX-14 wins again August 18, 2006

Kawasaki Racing Team rider, Ricky Gadson, captured another victory on his all-new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 as the AMA/ProStar Series returned to Indianapolis Raceway Park last weekend. The 39-year-old racer from Philadelphia, Pa., qualified in fourth in the newly created AMA/ProStar Super Street class and made quick work of his challengers to advance to the final round. Once in the final, Gadson took advantage of a quicker reaction time of .075 seconds off the starting line and paired it with the unquestionable power of his ZX-14, to lay down an 8.291 second pass at 170.26 mph defeating Eric Sanzotera, who had a slower reaction time of .131 seconds and ran 8.397 at 175.48. Gadson also set new 1/8-mile Elapsed Time (ET) and speed records while in contention during the sixth round of the series by running an ET of 5.46 seconds at 140 mph. The 1/8-mile records were set during the quarter-mile eliminations on Sunday. Next up for Gadson and his ZX-14 is the 40th Annual U.S. Motorcycle Nationals, September 9-10 at Atco Raceway, in Atco, N.J.
