Italian Supertwins: Championship Finale in Magione October 31, 2006

The final round of the Italian Supertwins Championship took place from the 13th to the 15th of October at the Magione track.

Like the previous race, Valter Bartolini was absent because he was engaged in the Supermotard championship. NCR CORSE team ran with Alessio Aldrovandi, who was very motivated by the victory he gained in the last race at Misano against Paolo Bentivogli (Bimota DB5).

Alessio started very well in the first Friday’s free practice, but crashed out in the second practice, hitting the ground with his MILLONA FACTORY 06. Luckly, there were no injuries for the “bolognese” rider.

Saturday’s official practice started well for Alessio who managed to improvedhis time lap to 1.15.6 at the end of the second official turn.

This time earned him a place in the front row together with Guareschi in pole position.

Alessio did not get the best start and went through the first curve in 6th position. In the following laps he imposed an incredible pace with a 1.14.7, one second less than his best practice lap (a time which would have been good for the pole position).

Alessio surpassed the riders before him and in the last lap took Guareschi (MotoGuzzi MGS-01), running 3-4 decimal better than the other riders. Unfortunately in the last two laps Alessio was not able to close the gap between him and Guareschi. Alessio finished the overall positive race with second place before the Bentivogli’s Bimota.

The NCR Corse team 2006 season ends with very positive results. On a total of ten races they managed to collect eight victories and two second places, with three victories abroad, one in Canada and two in the USA. NCR also highlight the performance of the Millona in all its victories: The races ended with a minimum of 13 seconds on the second rider, to an unbelievable 36 seconds of distance on Bentivoglio (Bimota DB5) on the Varano circuit, during the Ducati desmo Challenge.

Also in the statistics for the 2006 season are the achievements of several NCR client-riders who won the ROOKIE category (Fabrizio Tinti with his MILLONA ONE SHOT), the GENTLEMAN category (Enrico Martini with his MILLONA ONE SHOT)  and the WOMEN category (Giuliana Teverino with her MILLONA S) of the Ducati Desmo Challenge.

A great second place for the roman architect Martini, 56 years old, behind Paolo Bentivogli (Bimota DB5).
