Rally Dakar: CBV’s Christophe Barriere-Varju at the Sydney Motorcycle Show November 21, 2006
On the first day of the Sydney Motorcycle Show at the Olympic Park in Homebush we saw the first Dakar Rally enthusiast who came to our stand. “People are incredibly amazed at that race” says Christophe Barriere-Varju who has a stand (CBV Racing - Dakar Rally) at the show.
SBS Television interviewed Christophe on Friday afternoon with the 4-5′ footage being aired last night at 7pm. “Viewers are interested in the potential winners but also want to understand why a person would want to race 9,000 kms over remotes part of Africa enduring the harshest terrain.”
The stand, in conjunction with the Dakar organisation and Trailrider magazine where Christophe has a Rally column is also the perfect opportunityt o create a presence to raise sponsorship for the 2007 CBV Racing Programme and sahowcase the Rally Motorcycle he will race during the SBS Televised Dakar Rally from 6-21 January 2007.
Day 2 of the Sydney Motorcycle Show at the Olympic Park in Homebush was really special as Browns Grafix delivered Christophe Barriere-Varju with his new designed Dakar One Helmet (see pics). “This is just a magnificent helmet, there is the Australian Flag at the top mixed the green and gold colours… I am definitely going to stand out with this.”
Saturday was a busy day with many people coming to say hello after watching Christophe’s interview on SBS television the night before and making donations. There were also additional companies interested in sponsoring and being part of the Dakar Rally adventure. “Some companies are now starting to see how they can benefit by becoming a sponsor to our Australian team, we are doing things very profesionally and working hard to provide a return to our sponsors. The values displayed in putting a team together and participating in the Dakar are very close to the values sought from companies’ vision and mission statements.”

Sunday 19 November is the last exhibition day and doors will open from 9am-6pm.
The 3rd and final day of the Sydney Motorcycle Show at the Olympic Park in Homebush was really busy. A lot of people from various international background and age group came to say hello. “It was really nice to see people coming back to the stand 2 or 3 times during the day, there were people that I met last year and wanted to know what happened to met at the last Dakar too. Even kids came back, it is was good to see that people were actually following my progress.”
Crystal from the big brother series came to give us a hand and ‘attracted’ the crowds so a lot of people will have photos with the rallye bike or the dakar rally posters in the background. Donations were also flowing after the girls from one of our sponsors, the Australian Off-Road Motorcycle Tours (www.deserthorizons.com.au), started talking with people. “I will take the Australian Flag with me to Dakar, now everyone that signed it is doing the Dakar rally with me.”
