SBK: DFXtreme Honda Team Launch January 31, 2007

Team DFXtreme have launched their 2007 programme at the Castelbrando fortress in Cison di Valmarino, Italy. Superbike television channel LA7’s Luigi Vignando lead proceedings, with help from Frankie Chili who is in good shape after his hip operation. Michel Fabrizio was present and Steve Martin took part via videoconference, and the bike’s new colour scheme inspired by the factory Hondas of Freddie Spencer was revealed to an enthusiastic crowd by Alex Ghini of Honda Europe.

Daniel Carli, team manager:

“Never before has the team worked like this to prepare a bike. You can see the result and we are very proud of it. World Superbikes is the toughest of competitions and it won’t be easy to fight the opposition. We’re sure that with the Steve’s experience and Michel’s enthusiasm we can reach our goal.”

Steve Martin, rider:

“I’m disappointed not to be present physically, but I’m in the middle of my training programme. I really want to succeed after two disastrous seasons and to be with such a united and well prepared team has fired me up even more. In the first tests I have been able to see that the upgrades to the bike have made a real difference, and I’m sure that Michel and I will hold the team flag high.”

Michel Fabrizio, rider:

“2006 was a difficult but beautiful season for me as a newcomer to the series. I’ve learned a lot and had some thrilling moments, such as Brno and Assen. The bike which I’ve already tested in Spain has already grown enormously and I’m sure it will be one of the best in the championship.”

Alex Ghini, Honda Europe:

“Honda believes in this kind of competition and we are working closely with Japan in order to supply all the technical support that that the team needs. The partnership with Team DFXtreme has now consolidated into a truly international winning formula.”
