SBK: Kawasaki PSG-1 Team Launch January 31, 2007
The official launch of Team Kawasaki PSG-1 has taken place in the skiing resort of Sestriere in the Italian Alps. Regis Laconi and Fonsi Nieto were present for two days of celebrations ahead of the first race of the championship in just under a month, at Qatar on the 24th of February.
The two riders signed autographs and presented the new official SBK computer game. There was an official reception on Sunday afternoon and saw the riders, team manager Guido Pagani, senior manager of the Italian branch of Kawasaki Motor Europe Sergio Vicarelli, and Dr. Fiorenzo Stolfi, secretary of state for foreign policy of the San Marino Republic and president of the committee of the ministers of the Council of Europe meet Carl Chionna - boss of the 9,2 agency who designed the bikes’ new look and the management of the Neos Banca gruppo S.Paolo Imi, new sponsors of the team.
The team’s next track outing will be at the Kawasaki Motors Europe 2-day test at Valencia on the 5th and 6th of February. This will be a Kawasaki only test (contrary to what we said earlier on this site) which will also see Gil Motor Sport, PMS and teams from the world endurance and national championships taking part. A total of 26 teams will be present and a similar test will take place at Misano on the 15th and 16th of May.
