SBK: Nieto top Kawasaki Corse rider at Brno July 25, 2006
Fonsi Nieto (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse) scored two sixth place finishes at Brno after a highly positive end to his race weekend, despite niggling problems in race one. Chris Walker (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse) scored a close seventh behind Nieto in race one, but slid back to tenth in race two.
Regis Laconi (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse) scored no points in either 20-lap Superbike race, having been taken out by a first corner incident, which also saw championship leader Troy Bayliss falling out of contention.
FONSI NIETO: 6th & 6th - 81 Points, 10th Overall:
“I made a couple of OK starts but I have to qualify better in Superpole if I hope to take a podium. In the first race we had problems with the brake, and we had to change an engine, but in race two it was perfect for me. We made a good race, but the problem is in the beginning, when I had to use the tyre too hard. I need to save the tyre in races to push at the end. I have taken 20 points, finished both races, and I think I learned more in these two races than all the others!”
CHRIS WALKER: 7th & 10th - 79 Points, 11th Overall:
“We had lots of issues with grip today, but to be honest, no more than most people. I didn’t ride particularly well this weekend. The rear that we used in testing did not work as well in the race, and the front I wanted we could not get. We made changes after warm-up and they helped, so to get two top tens, after the practice we had, was not so bad. Nieto rode really well this weekend so well done to him.”
REGIS LACONI: DNF & 16th - 52 Points, 16th Overall:
“Race one was disappointing but nothing I could do about the fall. I had a real problem with traction from the rear in race two, which was really unexpected.”

SUPERSTOCK 1000 FIM CUP
SACCHETTI FINISHES NINTH AFTER DIFFICULT BRNO WEEKEND
PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse rider Denis Sacchetti paid the price for an untidy weather affected qualifying with a ninth place finish in a shortened and postponed seven lap Superstock 1000 race. Red flagged and restarted after the second Superbike race, the seven-lap race was a trial for Sacchetti who brought home six more championship points.
DENIS SACCHETTI: 9th - 34th Points, 8th Overall:
“I felt I had no feel from the front today and that was a result of the lack of practice and qualifying in the dry. The front just did not feel good and I had to ride hard to stay in the top ten. So I am not happy with this result.”
