Supermoto: Bernd Hiemer with KTM for two more years October 7, 2006

Exceptional Supermoto rider Bernd Hiemer will continue to compete for KTM in the Supermoto World Championship for the next two seasons. The German rider is also working closely with the KTM Development Department to ride and develop a 450 SMR for the 2007 season.

The KTM Sportmotorcycle AG is very pleased to announce a continuation of the cooperation with Bernd Hiemer. The German rider, who, with his KTM 630 SMR is presently the leader in the season standings in the S1 class of the Supermoto World Championships, will continue to ride for the Austrian manufacturer for the coming two seasons. Because of the successful cooperation over the past seasons, Hiemer, the “extreme drifter” and the KTM Motor Sports boss Pit Beirer have signed a contract until the end of 2008 at the head office of KTM at Mattighofen, Austria.

The 23-year-old professional will receive complete support from the factory and will fight in the hardest fought class of the Supermoto World Championship riding a KTM 450 SMR. True to the “Ready to Race” company philosophy there will also be a direct link to the KTM Development Department. Thanks to the close cooperation with KTM product engineers, this also means that development on the KTM Supermoto series models can be more efficient and faster.

“The extension of our cooperation with Bernd is a big success and an important part of our future motor racing activities,” explained Pit Beirer. “With Bernd, not only do we have the best Supermoto rider and a fantastic personality in the team, all of the development and therefore also our KTM Supermoto customers directly benefit from his competence,” added the KTM Motor Sports boss.
