Trial: Positive Start For Sherco Team Riders April 3, 2006

Double victory for Loris Gubian on the 125, in the European championship and in the World Championship

The Spanish locality of Nigrán has turned out to be a suitable framework for the start of the 2006 Trials Championships of the World, and the European Championship, in which the Sherco riders have had a noticeable role.  On Saturday the competition was reserved for the riders competing in the European Championship, with a double presence on the podium for Team Sherco riders. The victory was won by the French rider Loris Gubian and third place was won by the Italian rider Matteo Grattarola.

A few drops of rain marked the beginning of the day on Sunday; however the rain fell very hard on the previous day which made for some very slippery conditions for the first round of the 2006 World Championship. The problem was accentuated because the majority of the sections were set in the interior of the wooded area. These conditions made for some very high points from all of the riders.

Albert Cabestany did not have a very brilliant first lap; he accrued 45 point which relegated him to sixth place. However, he did have an outstanding final lap, dropping only 20 marks which was the second best final lap, this moved him up to fourth place overall. Loris Gubian, in turn, would repeat the triumph of the previous day, this time in the Junior 125 category of the Championship of the World. With a total of eight riders of the mark situated among the top fifteen in the overall classification it was a very good weekend for the Sherco colors.

G.P. Final Classification Points

2 Adam Raga (Gas Gas) 60
3 Doug Lampkin (Montesa)

Albert Cabestany (Sherco) 65
